      On Sunday March 4th at 1pm, The Hudson River Music Hall at 10 Maple Street in Hudson Falls will host Russian pianist Maxim Pakhomov.  He will perform The ABEGG variations by Schumann, The Appassionata Sonata by Beethoven, Prelude, Choral and Fugue by Franck, selected Etudes Tableaux by Rachmaninoff and will be joined by guest artist Mira Ma on Brahms Hungarian Dances for 4 hands.  Admission is $8 for students and seniors and $12 for general admission.

Maxim Pakhomov, originally from the Far East region of Russia, completed his studies at the Moscow State Conservatory.  Mr. Pakhomov has appeared throughout Russia with various orchestras and has toured England, Scotland, Austria and Estonia in both solo and chamber music concerts.  His American credits include performances in Merkin Hall and Zankel Hall where he premiered his own arrangement of Stravinsky’s Petrushka for piano duo.  He has performed with The Westchester Chorale and is the principal pianist of the Bronx Opera Company.  His solo performances include piano concertos by Tschaikovsky, Saint-Saëns, Brahms, Beethoven and Rachmaninoff with the Orchestra of The Bronx, Beethoven’s Concerto No.4 with the Orchestra of the Barge Music Festival, same composer Triple concerto with the Bronx Symphony, Bach’s D Minor Concerto with The Bach Festival Small Orchestra of the Lautreament Concert Series and The Beethoven Choral Fantasy with One World Symphony.  Mr. Pakhomov is three times winner of the Bronx Council on The Arts’ BRIO (Bronx Recognizes Its Own) Award.

A native of Taiwan, Mira Ma made her entry in music under her mother’s supervision, At age of nine she entered the school of music founded by the  Taiwan government. She gave her concerto debut at twelve playing Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 1 with Taipei Century Symphony Orchestra. After graduating from National Taiwan Academy of Arts, Miss Ma came to the United States to continue her studies. She has given numerous concerts and has received enthusiastic review from critics. She has performed at the Sim Yet Sen Memorial Hall in Taipei, the Arts Club of Washington D.C., the Kennedy Center, the Metropolitan Museum of New York, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston, the Steinway Hall in both New York and London, Salle Cortot in Paris, and Salle des Colonnes in Fontainebleau, France.  

In 1995, Miss Ma went to London to study with Noretta Concil, the teaching assistant of the legendary pianist Arturo Bendetli Michelangelí. In 1996, she was selected and entered the Leeds International Piano Competition in England.  Miss Ma holds Artist’s Diploma from Hart School of Music  and a Master’s Degree from the Manhattan School of Music. Her teachers include Constance Keene, Noretta Co11ciLeech, Raymond Hanson, and Anne Consciehiy. She has performed in master classes by distinguished pianists such as Karl-Ulrich Schnabel, Byron Janis, John Perry, and Philips Entremont.

The WSWHE BOCES Adult Education program has been working to develop and establish additional education and training opportunities to help prepare adults for the world of work. We encourage you to explore our offerings listed below: 

College Prep via the GED Plus Program
Join this three-week college prep seminar while working toward your GED. During weekly classes, you will have individualized assignments with plenty of help and support. Study topics include, but are not limited to, college writing skills, the admissions process, understanding financial aid, and studying at the college level. The cost is $10 for students currently enrolled in the WSWHE BOCES GED program. The seminar is also open to the general public and costs $75.
