"Our company was new to the area when we met with folks from the Washington County LDC.
We were interested in purchasing a facility in Washington County, but at the time, our main office was located on Long Island, New York.
Through the help of the LDC, we were able to secure a loan with terms that enabled us to purchase our current building in Kingsbury. This facility has become home for us, and we closed our Long Island facility and moved our business and our homes here.
We actually were needing a little more space to grow, and about a year ago, the opportunity to purchase a nearby facility arose. We actually did purchase this building, and it has allowed us to grow. The space was more than we needed, but we were able to rent a portion of the building, bringing in some jobs from outside the area.
We could not have purchased this building without securing a loan from the LDC, and Tori Riley was so much help in making this happen that we could not be more appreciative."

"Our interaction with the Washington County LDC has been extremely positive. Executive Director, Tori Riley is highly accessible and has demonstrated a cooperative, can-do approach to the economic development issues in which we've been jointly involved. We've appreciated the ease with which our communication has gone back and forth and it's been great working with them."

"As professional as they come! Tori and the LDC staff are an economic resource to be used by businesses; both large and small. If accessibility, creative thinking and contacts too numerous to mention are what you are looking for....then the Washington County LDC office is the place you want to be!!"

"I participated as a student in the very first Microenterprise program Washington County offered. At the time I was already in business as an independent computer instructor. I began my business by helping friends and it quickly became a fulltime endeavor. Although I was an expert in my field and had no trouble advising and teaching my clients, I had no previous business experience to draw upon which led to feelings of being overwhelmed at times. The Microenterprise program taught me many business procedures that made running my business so much easier!
Although I took a couple of accounting classes in college, I still wasn't confident I was keeping my books for my business properly. This class provided a professional accountant that taught me the accounting basics that I needed to know to get the job done quickly and correctly. The class also covered legal issues, planning, proposal writing, marketing and so much more.
Because I was in business for myself I was hesitant to devote so many hours
to this class. I quickly realized that the time I spent in this class was returned several times with the money and time saving techniques that were acquired.
I highly recommend the Microenterprise program!"

"To Executive Director of Washington County;
We would like to thank you and your office for all the support and help we have been receiving from all of you over the past year. Being new business owners the area it is sometimes very difficult to reach out for help. The hardest part of reaching out for support was trying to figure out whom to talk too first. Thanks to you and all your help, it was a lot easier to make all the right contacts about our business venture in the Town of Fort Ann. Your office has been a breath of fresh air. We are totally impressed with how you helped us get to were we are today and we can't thank you enough for that you did for us. We are exceptionally happy with the way you handle yourselves and we are so glad that we have you in our corner.
Look forward to a new and exciting future!"
Thanks again,

The Microenterprise Assistance Program provides anyone who is thinking about starting or expanding their small business an opportunity to gain insight and knowledge that they would never get anywhere else to ensure success. The program is comprehensive and thorough and the staff at the LDC are a pleasure to work with.

I have had the pleasure of being able to access information with assistance from the LDC office on a few occasions since I began with Washington Co. in November 2009. The experience has always been beneficial to me, meaning, I am able to learn something each time I speak with LDC staff. They are very helpful, knowledgeable and professional in their efforts to assist those who request assistance.

"Back in 2002 when Adirondack Plastics and Recycling, Inc needed to
obtain funding to purchase its own warehouse and equipment to expand we turned to and were supported 100% by the Washington County LDC. The funds provided allowed Adirondack to grow its business from under $1 million dollars in sales to over $4 million dollars and increase its staffing from 5 to over 30. Once again when Adirondack needed strong support to expand our growing business and purchase additional equipment and another warehouse facility the Washington County LDC was there in 2005. Economic Development in Washington County would be non existent without the dedicated professional staff of the LDC, I know that my business would not have survived and expanded without their support, guidance and access to capital. I have referred a number of small businesses owners looking to establish themselves or looking to expand their business in Washington County to contact Washington County LDC and all have thanked me for the referral since all of them got the training, guidance and professional business support they needed."

"For the past year, I'd been considering contacting Tori Riley and Jamie White to discuss the possibility of collaborating with her to offer the MicroEnterprise Small Business Planning program through SUNY Adirondack Continuing Education. As a first step, I called Tori and Jamie to see if they'd be willing to meet with me and Leza Wood, Continuing Education's Workforce and Professional Development Coordinator, to explore this possibility. The meeting was incredible! By its end, Tori and Jamie had enthusiastically embraced the idea and we'd all begun brainstorming ways to smoothly make the transition. One meeting later, we'd settled on the format and our marketing plans. One more meeting and we had dates set, instructors in place, and marketing materials under development. I couldn't believe how quickly we went from the idea stage to the implementation stage. Tori has a great deal of energy and brings excitement to the projects she's involved with. She's willing to work and work hard, and I'm delighted to be working on the MicroEnterprise program with her.
I'm looking forward to future collaborations as well."

"Thanks to the Washington County LDC, the dream of providing high quality custom carding and spinning services for fiber farmers in the County is becoming a reality. Battenkill Fibers' unique equipment required very special financing to support its purchase and installation. The LDC was willing to work with us to support the county's growing value-added agriculture; and fill this important niche - locally. As a result, we've already created five new jobs at our mill in Greenwich."
