Permit tests and CDL tests:
Please do NOT schedule Permit tests for regular licenses after 3:15 pm. We will not be able to accommodate you and you will have to reschedule your appointment for an earlier time on another day.
CDL tests: CDL Class A tests cannot be scheduled after 2:30 pm. If you are also looking to test on endorsements, then do not schedule an appointment after 2:00 pm. We will not be able to accommodate you and you will have to reschedule you appointment for an earlier time on another day.
There is documentation needed to sit for any permit test. This information is found on the NYS DMV website (the link is accessible above). Failure to have the appropriate documentation may mean you will not be able to sit for a permit test that day.
Keep Your Tax Dollars Working for Washington County
Get your registration back faster and keep your taxes in check. Washington County keeps 12.7% of your registration renewal fee when it is processed locally, but gets nothing if you mail it back to the State or renew online.
We are pleased to announce that there is now a designated drop box for DMV, conveniently located in the front of Building A of the Municipal Center complex. Please feel free to utilize this drop box for transactions that may not require an appointment (examples of those transactions are listed below, with the instructions on forms that are needed and how to submit that information).
Please be advised that effective June 22, 2020, the Washington County DMV is open BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. 1. There are NO permit appointments after 3:15 pm, so please do NOT schedule a Permit appointment after that time.
Please click this link to schedule your appointment:
have more than 2 transactions (register a boat, a car, a trailer, and renew your license for example), please schedule 2 appointments.
3. When scheduling an appointment, please note that the phone number you are entering should be a cell phone number that accepts text messages and can access a weblink. The system we use incorporates text messaging for an appointment reminder as well as sending a weblink for the check-in process. If you do not have a phone number capable of these functions, please do not enter a phone number and make sure to click “No Phone” when you schedule the appointment.
If you are utilizing the “No Phone” option, please remain in your car until 5 minutes before your appointment. At that time, please exit your vehicle and come to the door at DMV. Someone will be out to greet you. Please provide your full name and that you are here for an appointment.
